Choosing a word of the year seems to be trending as a replacement for the annual rite of creating New Year’s Resolutions and I love it! Last year when I was feeling a bit unaccomplished and somewhat overwhelmed with the to do list I had created for myself, I decided to chuck the idea of New Year’s Resolutions and focus on just one word; DONE! Even though there was a lot I wanted to accomplish in the year, taking my focus off of the list and putting it on the word “DONE” helped to keep me focused on getting things DONE. The most important things that I wanted to do were around creativity, fun, and recreation, which had all taken a back seat to completing my degree and building my business and I was feeling a bit out of balance. As I focused on reclaiming the time to pursue these activities I found myself saying YES to the opportunities that arose. Since then Rick and I have revived date night and are enjoying wining, dining, hiking, concerts, shows, and exploring. Fabulous and inspiring collages now grace my office after taking art classes from my talented friend and artist Terry Parvan of Winifred Street ~ Message Art by Terry Parvan.Velvet pumpkins have been distributed around the country and around the world after saying yes to transforming a new hobby into my new sidekick business, Nanticoke Creek Art & Design. I wrote in the sand on the San Diego Coast during three trips last fall. I bought a new camera and have been practicing and learning photography. From all of this I’ve made a batch of fabulous new friends. DONE worked well for me last year and now it is time to choose a new word…and actually, this word chose me. It’s time to BLOOM!
Not just for me, but for so many of us…it’s time. For me, that means to let go of all that has held me back from the fullest expression of myself. It is time to publish the book that is already written. It is time to release the CD that has already been recorded. It is time to offer the workshop that has been developed. It is time to be the hostess I have only dreamed about. It is time. What is it time for you to do? What dreams are you holding onto? What books are inside you? What art lives only in your heart and not yet in the world? What part of YOU are you holding back? It is time…It’s time to Bloom.
Earlier I mentioned that the word “Bloom” chose me. Bloom is the inspired vision of fabulous siblings Shannon and Kyle Johnson whom I mentioned in an earlier post. We share an amazing vision of service and support, not only of our clientele, but of each other and I love being a part of this. I love that whether one works within the walls of this beautiful space, or enjoys any of the many offered services, you too, have the opportunity to Bloom. As a life coach I enjoy working with fabulous women every day toward that end…toward your own Bloom and I am looking forward to serving you in an even bigger way, offering even more of myself.
Do you have a word of the year? I’d love to hear about it
~Blessings, Janet
The dictionary defines Bloom as a condition or time of greatest vigor and freshness: beauty in full bloom; the blossom of a great romance; the efflorescence of humanitarianism; the florescence of Greek civilization; in the flower of youthful enthusiasm; in the flush of their success; the prime of life.

OH MY JANET!!! Your posts brought tears to my eyes. You have had such a great year by being DONE or getting it DONE. It is funny you mentioned the book because your wonderful long comment on my New Year’s Resolution post made me think that you needed to WRITE a book. But you have one already. I can’t wait for it to be published as I will be one of the first in line to buy it. And a CD? What type of CD? I will also be buying one of them for my own.
And what a wonderful word is Bloom. I know and I BELIEVE I can BLOOM!!!!
Oh Kim, You are so sweet and THIS is why I do what I do. God so graciously gave us a purpose and set us free to pursue it. It took me awhile to “find mine” but Amazing Grace how sweet it is!
You have been such a inspiration to me as well, with your deep faith and positive outlook even in the midst of your pain and sorrow. It is wonderful to see you “blooming”
, following your passion and loving your life. The CD
, is a simple guided meditation set to piano and ocean waves. It also includes an instrumental and sound track so you can create your own meditation. Here’s to us all living our dream. ~Blessings, Janet
